The largest city in Africa, formed of two fused governorates, Cairo and Giza. They engulf the Nile River at the bifurcation into its two main branches. It is Giza, on the West bank of the Nile, that hosts one of the seven wonders of the world. On the East, Cairo is the busy capital with thousands of minarets, collection of monumental mosques, churches and synagogues.

While for one night, it is wise to save some traffic time between airport and downtown by choosing one of the hotels in the Heliopolis area (closer to the airport), such as the Sheraton, the Meridien or the Swissotel.
